My name is Nicola. I have been teaching GCSE English since 2003 and with almost a decade of experience as an examiner, I specialise in supporting students in meeting and exceeding their target grades.
I bring a deep understanding of how to build confidence, close knowledge gaps and approach the GCSE exams.

My Story
After studying English Literature at Sheffield University, I went on to complete my PGCE in Secondary English and began teaching in a secondary school in 2004. In 2021, I left classroom teaching but by this point, I had already begun tutoring and was studying towards a qualification in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I now work as both a counsellor and a private tutor, two roles that I am incredibly passionate about.
It is important that I keep up to date with what is happening in education and in the classroom, so being an AQA examiner as well as regular training ensures that I am able to do this.
As a mother to my own teenage children, I recognise the emotional needs of young people, especially during this incredibly stressful period. I strive to create an environment that is both welcoming and supportive and help young people overcome barriers to learning as well as academic success.
